Life Happens....

We hit a little bump in the road on our journey in making money online. As I mentioned previously my partner and I are in the automotive service industry. We work for a Toyota dealership and as you can imagine, the past couple of months have been hectic to say the least. The dealership expanded hours of operation into the evenings and has opened Saturdays to meet current needs. This seriously impacted our time schedule not to mention our energy levels. It has also cemented our resolve to succeed in making money by another method.

As I had stated before I had been looking at several ways to succeed. I needed to set up some accounts and accounting. The first item I wanted to set up was bookkeeping to track expenses and for tax filing. I decided to go with Quickbooks Online. It requires a monthly fee which I'm not fond of, but it can be accessed by any computer anywhere and by more than one person. This is a very handy feature when you have a business partner and you are working from different physical locations. Next I opened an account for my domain names and a hosting account. I chose Hostgator for the hosting due to several recommendations they received from many sources during my research. I have found their site easy to navigate and the tutorials very easy to understand and informative. The online support staff was extremely helpful as well.

Many online businesses allow you to pay with PayPal so I set up a business account. I have had a personal account with them for years with no negative experience. We also intend to sell on Ebay at some point in the future so this account serves more than one purpose. I received a Google Adword credit from Hostgator so I set up an account, which I haven't used to this point. Finally I set up our Blogger.com account and posted my first blog. During that posting I had to set up an Adsense account to monetize my blog.

Now that everything was in place it was time to make some money. From what I had learned to this point, blogging to make money online was going to take some time and I wanted to start earning something now to cover some expenses. I looked into a few programs that were recommended by some trustworthy looking sources. By trustworthy I mean the ones that don't promise quick riches. I tried a few and they worked, meaning I was able to make some money with them, but they required more time than I was willing to allocate. This is also when things got complicated with Toyota. If things track the way they have so far with the full time job it will take another couple of months before it returns to normal. In the meantime, I believe I have found the correct path to making money online. More on that next time...

Be Well!
